Hi,
I did not have much time in the last few days,
however, yesterday I tried to get NHL98 and
Excalibur (a game demo, suggested by Chris)
to run with the wrapper...
Currently I have the following problems:
o) Excalibur runs, somehow (actually BigRedCroc3
did not break it, at least not the demo which
you can download). BUT: it uses 8 bit paletted
textures! It would be possible to add paletted
textures support to the driver, but this means
quite a lot of work, and, judging by the
software rendered version of Excalibur, this
game would not justify this effort (this is my
very private opinion of course). I would rather
get a well known game running on Rendition.
Excalibur does not seem to get ever released
as a finished game (am I wrong?).
On the other hand, if another game will need
paletted textures, Excalibur would be a very
nice game to test & develop paletted textures
conversion... We will see...
(Besides, there has been another little problem
with Excalibur regarding the intialization via
BGRRED.INI, this is solved now...)
o) NHL98: this games puzzles me and it is a
very annoying experience: it really stops
just after QueryHardware and GetGlideVersion
and I have absolutely no idea why. I have made
sure that GetGlideVersion returns the right
string, but had still no luck...
Perhaps it really tests for the hardware (very
unlikely!)???
Judging from its import table in the EXE, this game
would use only the most common Glide calls,
so we would really have a chance that this
game runs (somehow) with BigRedCroc...
Perhaps someone owning a Voodoo can test what
exact parameters (tmu revision, etc...) are given
back by a call to QueryHardware()????
This seems to be the last hope to get this
damned game running...
Perhaps we can find another glide game to test?
Your orders/suggestions?
